When we were young and silly we thought that only loud albums had the power to move us. Of course in the process we were denying ourselves the joy of much quieter, but no less affecting, works. I’d hazard a guess that if this was 1989 we’d have overlooked Hilary Woods’ The River Cry and in doing so we’d have missed out on a beautiful piece of work. Thankfully maturity and 2013 is where we’re at and the 8 tracks which make up this album have each gone about their unhurried business of lassoing our heart. Over the next while we will be working to ensure that ‘The River Cry‘ is showcased to as many people as possible so we’ll probably be getting in touch with you.
